Ron is a partner at Kowalczyk Law Offices (formerly Kowalczyk & Bell, P.C.) and concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate law and civil litigation including class action antitrust, commercial contracts, eminent domain, labor and employment law, and insurance premium fraud. Mr. Kowalczyk is admitted to practice in the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois Trial and General Bars, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, and in Illinois state courts.
Mr. Kowalczyk received his B.A. from Stetson University in DeLand, Florida and his M.S. in Public Affairs from American University in Washington D.C. While receiving his J.D. from DePaul University in Chicago, Mr. Kowalczyk won the school's moot court competition and went on to represent the college in multiple national competitions. He later served as an Executive Board Member to the Moot Court Society, as well as the Editor-in-Chief of the DePaul-LCA Journal of Art and Entertainment Law.
Mr. Kowalczyk has published a number of law review articles including Section 12.03 of the New York Arts and Cultural Affairs Law: Civil By Association (International Journal of Cultural Property, Volume 10, No. 1, 2001) and Supreme Court Slams the Door on the Press: Media “Ride-Along” Found Unconstitutional in Wilson v. Layne (DePaul-LCA Journal of Art and Entertainment Law and Policy, Spring 1999). Moreover, he has authored a number of bar journal articles including The Application of the Implied Covenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing in Contract Cases (December 2003) and Payment in Full – Counseling Business Clients on Accord and Satisfaction (February 2006) in the DuPage County Bar Association “Brief.”
In addition to his publications, Mr. Kowalczyk has spoken on multiple occasions at the Illinois Paralegal Association’s Education Conference on issues such as insurance premium fraud and enforcement of non-compete provisions in employment agreements. He is a Unit Adjunct Professor at Elgin Community College where he teaches classes in legal writing, litigation, and torts to paralegals. Mr. Kowalczyk volunteers significant time at the Pro Bono Center for Disability and Elder Law where he is Partner of the Collections Division.
